Four Ways To Improve Your SAT Score at HKT

Four Ways To Improve Your SAT Score at HKT

Personal Tutors •The tutor usually has significant background and experience with the standardized test. Also, the tutor will work with the student on her strengths and limitation pertaining to the test. (21st Century Program)

SAT Prep and ACT Prep Courses •These classes tend to have each student complete a practice SAT/ ACT test to get a baseline score.  The classes are divided into several-week components each with specific topics to cover.  Topics include reviewing math and reading sections, timing on the tests, and learning strategies to each section. (Math & ELA SAT/ACT Classes)

Self Paced Practice •A newer method of practice is online or use of computer software programs.  TCA Prep is a fantastic tool that works in 2 ways: (1) teacher has access to a student's performance and can view/download detailed analysis of deficiencies in specific areas/concepts of a student. (2) students and parents have access to the same information with individualized targeted practice to correct deficiencies that are shown when taking practice tests.  (tcaprep.com/study guide)

PSAT and PLAN The PSAT is typically given to eleventh graders.  The test will give an estimated SAT score and provide feedback to improving within each section of the test. The PLAN is given to tenth graders.  This test provides the elements of the PSAT except the PLAN is geared towards the ACT.  The PLAN also has a career inventory embedded into the results.
